Enjoy this fascinating introduction to dichroic glass fusing and working with this captivating material. Discover kiln-fired glass, be introduced to and learn about dazzling dichroic glass, glass cutting skills and design elements. This is your chance to learn this art form making two complete projects: a beautiful pendant and a pair of earrings, both packaged in a gift box ready to take home.
I will begin with an introduction to glass fusing, cutting skills and technical information. I will guide you through the process of making the pendant and pair of earrings designed to cover a full range of techniques and skills. You will have the chance to experiment and try out different colors, shapes and sizes.
You will also look at the different bails and jewelry findings that can be attached to the fused glass pieces after they have been fused. In addition, there will be a microwave kiln demonstration, which offers an alternative to kiln firing that you can use at home.
The pieces you will make can be worn without damage in water (even in the Blue Lagoon). Every piece of glass has its own personally as they were alive. They change colors depending on how light reflects on them, also they pick up colors near them, which makes the same piece go well with more then one color of clothing.
This one day workshop is a fun introduction to this wonderful art form. Making something that is entirely unique with breathtaking colors and unpredictable reflection, no piece looks the same. Hi, I have been making fused glass jewelry for several years. My jewelry is sold in a variety of shops around Iceland. They have become very popular with both locals and people traveling to Iceland as a gift to take home. I work from my home and as cozy as it is, I would love some company!
